An unusual pair of Art Deco accent chairs, made in Europe during the 1930s. Their design combines a restrained geometric silhouette with more traditional decorative elements and beautiful tapisserie upholstery.
The backs are particularly distinctive with their faceted upper edges and inset upholstered panels following the architecture of the wooden frames.
The solid wooden frames are finely proportioned, with gently curved rear legs and slender turned front legs with sculptural details. This combination of angular geometry, traditional turning and tapestry gives the chairs an interesting position between decorative art deco and the more restrained furniture of the 1930s.
Would work particularly well as occasional or side chairs, either together or placed separately within an interior.
