A beautiful pair. Each captured in a contrasting pose that lends the ensemble a sense of movement and dialogue. Standing at approximately three-quarters of natural scale, the birds are elegantly shaped and their slender legs and sweeping necks creating a graceful sculptural silhouette.
Cast in brass and worked with finely articulated plumage, the surfaces carry a beautiful patina. Neither entirely naturalistic nor overtly stylised, the cranes possess the peculiar charm of mid-century decorative sculpture, where observation of the natural world is distilled into a refined and decorative form. At approximately three-quarters life size, they command presence without overwhelming a room.
The pair comes in a very good condition with a beautiful patina on the brass.
