Early 19th Century Candlestick in Pewter

€875.00

A beautiful candlestick in pewter. Northern Europe, early to mid 19th century.

A tall pewter candlestick of restrained, architectural form. Very timeless, ornament is reduced to proportions alone.

The surface has developed a soft, matte patina, consistent with an early leaded alloy. It shows fine pitting and scattered traces - both from use and casting. The underside bears a mark with a castle combined with the initials T. S. and a small tree. However, we are not sure about the maker.

It comes in a good condition with a nice patina from age and use.

Dimensions: W. 12 x D. 12 x H. 31 cm
