Janni van Pelt Coffee Table in Patinated Metal and Glass for Bas van Pelt The Netherlands 1950s

€5,650.00

Wonderfully understated and timeless, this rare mid century coffee table by designer Janni van Pelt truly is one of the best Dutch mid 20th century pieces.

Simple yet stunning, this table shows a very balanced aesthetic. The slender metal frame is light and airy, but features very good proportions. A round surface of wired glass floating on a geometric frame - very modern and avant garde at the time.

The original wired glass adds a refinement and elegance and the metal shows its age gracefully. The patina on the metal surfaces really adds to the charm of this table and gives it a well lived and more profound appearance. A design this good combines wonderfully with a wide array of pieces and interior styles - as can be seen in the pictures. A rare and wonderful piece!

About Janni van Pelt

Born in the Netherlands in 1921, Janni grew up surrounded by the spirit of innovation. Her father, Bas van Pelt, was one of the early champions of modern furniture design in the Netherlands, introducing progressive interior concepts through his company. When war interrupted both life and legacy - Bas was tragically killed in 1945 - Janni and her husband Dick Brouwers chose not only to preserve his work, but to build apon it. After studying at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Janni and Dick took over the family business, later renaming it ‘Bas van Pelt Binnenhuisarchitectuur’ to honor her father's vision.

This rare table comes in a honest and good original condition showing a desirable patina.
