A wonderful slender hand carved sculpture of a woman and child. Europe, 1973.
The woman is covered almost entirely in a flowing mantle with her head gently inclined, while the child rests against her chest. All carved with restrain and simplicity, with the surface showing tactile chisel marks. Very distinct and well carved sculpture.
The large figure rises from a simple wooden base and is signed and dated '73.
