A wonderful and beautifully patinated side table in wrought iron, gilded metal and verre élogmisé. Most probably French, mid 20th century.
This subtle but highly elegant side table features a distinctive design with slender legs, a gilded rim and a wonderful top in verre églomisé. Resembles works by Maison Jansen and Jacques Adnet.
Painting the back of a glass plate or mirror is a technique used for centuries called ‘verre églomisé’. It was rediscovered in the art deco era where both artists, designers and architects used it to create elegant art pieces and interiors. Mesmerizingly beautiful and very elegant.
Comes in a good and original condition with a great patina on the metal surfaces. The top shows beautiful wear, which adds greatly to the overall appearance.
