Monumental Mid Century Chandelier in Glass, Metal and Patinated Brass 1960

€17,400.00

Monumental Mid Century Chandelier in Glass, Metal and Patinated Brass, The Netherlands, 1960.

A highly unique and impressive mid century chandelier in white lacquered metal, patinated brass and clear glass - more than 3 meters / 120 inch long. Truly a chandelier of majestic proportions.

Please note: we have a matching pair available.

The chandelier is composed out of 24 clear glass globe bulbs suspended in a carefully structured cascade. The fixture is anchored to the ceiling by a long, rectangular white lacquered canopy from which a sequence of thin rods extend outward and downward. From each point in this framework hangs a single pendant light, a clear glass globe with a brass socket. The globes are arranged in multiple staggered rows, creating a gentle descending formation that reads almost like a luminous constellation.

The thinness of the metal framework gives the chandelier an airy and architectural quality. The overall effect is both minimal and theatrical.

Originating from an important Dutch building by Bossche School architect Jos Bijnen - these chandeliers were installed around 1960 / 1962 and have been used until now - a great and significant provenance.

Due to the absolutely giant size and the wonderful design, this truly is a very special chandelier which will be the center of attention in any hallway, lobby or interior.

The chandelier comes in a highly original and untouched condition. Originally EU-wired.

Please note: Also available as a pair for €34800.

Dimensions: W. 315 x D. 140 x H. 100 cm
