A wonderful early 20th century repoussé fire screen in patinated brass depicting a majestic galleon. Belgian or French, 1900-1930.
Remarkable and very interesting, this fire screen shows a highly detailed scene with a large antique galleon on the sea. The amount of details is just fantastic. Just look at the curly waves, the sails and the low-relief clouds in the background. All set in a highly decorative framework. The piece features a distinct neoclassical and art nouveau appearance - the latter most noticeable in the two delicate feet.
