Sculptural Table Lamp in Brass and Opaline Glass Europe Early 20th Century
A sculptural balancing act of the highest order, this early 20th century table lamp is as much a practical object as a work of art.
Created out of a cast brass frame with an opaline glass shade. The structure rises from a domed base and resolves into a continuous, inward-turning line, held in a moment of tension before extending outwards again. A light object originating from the time when art nouveau became art deco - let’s say around 1920-1925. Most probably French or Belgian.
The brass has darkened over time and shows a wonderful patina.
Comes in a good and original condition with a very nice patina. Originally - EU - wired.
Dimensions: W. 36 x D. 14 x H. 38 cm
