Set of 6 Chairs in Bamboo and Patinated Cognac Leather 1960s

€7,500.00

A beautiful and unusual set of 6 (dining) chairs in bamboo and patinated cognac leather. Europe, mid 20th century.

These chairs show a refined and sculptural silhouette, with flowing lines and a symmetrical appearance. Their design combines the lightness associated with rattan or bamboo furniture with an unusually architectural construction.

The particular strength of the design lies in its almost perfectly symmetrical construction. The continuous curve forming the back and armrests is closely repeated at floor level, where an almost identical rattan element forms the base. Between these two horizontal curves, slender uprights and bent supports connect upper and lower sections, creating a chair that appears almost mirrored around its seat. This repetition gives the chairs an unusually coherent and architectural quality. Seen together, the six chairs have a strong rhythm and sculptural presence.

Highly unusual yet wonderful combination of bamboo and patinated cognac leather. Great color and a very good match with the dark brown bamboo surfaces. Traditional rattan construction remains clearly visible in the bent elements and bound joints, while the stained surface retains the natural texture of the bamboo.

The set comes in a good and original condition with slight wear due to age and use and a desirable patina on the leather.

Dimensions: W. 53 x D. 57 x H. 79 cm (SH. 47 cm)
