





















































Very Rare Antique Armada Box or Strongbox in Iron Early 17th Century
A truly wonderful 400 year old museum worthy ‘strongbox’ or ‘armada box’. Most probably German, around 1600-1620.
These kind of chests were used as transportable safe - both on land and on a ship. Very heavy and highly rare - especially this smaller size.
This chest features a working 11 bolt lock mechanism, with a most unique hand engraved lock plate showing two anthropomorphic mermaid like sea creatures. Wonderful intricate details and hand made quality. Please note the very large and heavy key.
Overall a very rare and museum quality strongbox in a very good - working - condition.
