Wonderful Early 18th Century Chest in Oak and Wrought Iron
Wonderful late 17th to early 18th century chest in solid oak and hand wrought iron. Northern Europe.
A great provincial vernacular piece with a beautiful carved apron and feet, hand made hardware and a desirable patina on both the wood and the iron surfaces. Wonderful details overall - from the subtle decoration to the hand wrought nails used to hold the piece - and most notably the beautiful one-plank top - together.
Beautiful wabi sabi appearance and usable as a chest, a sideboard or even as a coffee or side table.
Please note: the key has been lost somewhere in the previous 300 years.
Dimensions: W. 125 x D. 50 x H. 51 cm
