Wonderful Empire Style Chest of Drawers in Oak and Brass The Netherlands 1820s
A wonderful antique Empire style chest of drawers in solid oak and patinated brass. The Netherlands, 1820s - 1830s.
Rooted in the architectural language of the Empire period, this well proportioned chest of drawers features a façade defined by two ebonized columns with gilt capitals and two beautiful sturdy legs. Made out of solid oak, it is a very distinct regional interpretation of Empire design, showing classical references and grand architectural presence.
The drawers are fitted with elegant - original - brass ring pulls, each centered with a neoclassical urn motif. It is raised on architectural block feet at the front and two elegant carved back feet.
Comes in a good and highly original condition with a subtle patina and wear due to age and use.
